Cheap 1/48 Humvees Found

I have been looking for 1/48 Humvees for some ATZ action as that is the scale I like for cars. But all I could find was the expesive 1/48 Tamiya kits. Sweet kits, but too pricey for my wallet. Then I stumbled upon these by Maisto on Ebay. I got one for $6 and the other for $10, and that included shipping.

Look for Spiderman or Hulk Humvees by Maesto with pull back action.
Be careful as Maisto also makes matchbox sized ones.





They come in at just about perfect 1/48 by my measuring.
3 7/8" long, 1 3/4" wide,1 1/2" tall


But they say 1/40 on the bottom.



1=RAFM USX Modern, 2=GW Guard 3=Hasslefree

4A=Eureka Marine, 4B=Eureka Marine on slotta [which is how I'll mount them]

Take out two small screws and you get...


Carefull though the Hulk Humvee had pink glass?

Luckily the windshield was flat and so got replaced with a piece of blister plastic

A quick spray of Testors Modern Sand, a wash & drybush and now my National Guardsmen have a spiffy new ride. Now to paint my National Guardsmen

Yeah, these have been around for some time. And still a good fit. Used to get them, non-Marvel that is, at Walmart for a few bucks each. Still have a few lying about.
There was also another company, New Millennium, that had an even better selection for Hummers in a few different variants that were good as well. Be on the look out for them as well on eBay. They show up from time to time.
Great find and good conversions getting them battle ready. :-)

Great find, I'm glad I'm not teh only one who prefers 1/50 & 1/48 over 1/43.

Must keep an eye looking for those when I'll go shopping next time.

For sure. 1/43 is way too big and usually 1/48 as well for 28MMish. I like the 1/50 to 1/60 range. The proposed 1/56 is OKish for me.
