My French and Indian War Skirmish Project

Hello all,

I was bitten by the FIW bug quite out of the blue a few weeks ago, and since then I've been gathering the figs I need to have a few small skirmish forces. Though I have a lot of painting left to do, I've  put quite a dent into the project, and I thought I'd share my progress.


This is Lieutenant Colonel Danby, the commander of my British forces. I actually did not paint him, he came painted in a lot of eBay figures from a superb chap named Hugh in Scotland, I merely rebased him to fit my other figures.



Here are my current French regulars, Major Leclerc, Fifer Bertrand and Sergeant Rousson. I am uncertain as to their manufacture; they came in the same eBay lot as above. Does anybody recognize them? If I was to hazard a guess I'd say Foundry...



These are my 42nd Highlanders, Captain McLeod and Sergeant Murray. Both are Eureka figures.



Here are my American Provincials, Captain Williamson and a private, painted up as the Jersey Blues. The officer was from eBay and again I'm not sure where he's from, but the private is from Galloping Major, whose figures I highly recommend.



Here are my current Huron warriors, the War Captain Hokolesqua and a brave. Hokolesqua is the Magua figure from Conquest, and the brave is from Perry.



And finally we have my Canadian militia officer, Captain Adele (Formerly of the French Regiment de Cambis), the American militiaman Henry Gordon, and Sergeant Boyne of the 44th Regiment of Foot. Adele is a "Soldiers Free" miniature from Galloping Major, Gordon is a Perry AWI Southern militiaman, and Boyne is from eBay and unkown manufacture.


That's all I have painted for now. The rules that I will be using are "This Very Ground." I like the period flavor of those rules and look forward to getting a game in with them soon. Hopefully I can get some more knocked out relatively quickly, and  hopefully Hurricane Sandy won't blow me away!

French & Indian War does grab folk that way 

I can confirm that your French fifer and sergeant as well as the Jersey Blues officer are from Foundry and started out as SYW Prussians - I'm less certain where the French officer comes from.  A good find and they look very well in their new roles.

I started trolling through the Foundry packs and found the French officer: he's from the "British Grenadier Command" pack, a "Cpt. Harris," and he originally started off with an extended open hand, which I bent down and converted to a pistol hand instead.

I'm still at a loss for who makes Sergeant Boyne though. :/

I love this period and set myself a hard limit of no more than about 80 figures per side, tops!

Hope your long term resolve on that score is a lot better than mine was.

Today the last figures for my project arrived from Redoubt: 6 British regulars, 6 French regulars and 6 more Huron warriors. This brings the total figure count up to 62. They still need basing. (Sorry for the sh*tty pictures, my camera didn't want to play nice tonight)



Painting wise all I've completed is one Provincial. School is getting hectic.




Finally, here is a little conversion that I did for my other Huron War Captain. This is the Metacomb figure from Brigade Game's King Phillip's War line. To him I've added a plactic Brown Bess from a Victrix Napoleonics sprue that I got from a friend of mine, and the sling is made from a thin strip of paper taken from a blister pack advert. I think it turned out rather well, though the horrible picture makes it hard to see.




Hopefully I can paint some more this coming long weekend.
