necromunda or 1page kill team
https://onepagerules.wordpress.com/portfolio/one-page-kill-team/

I always thought strange aeons would make a good inquisitor or rogue trader type game

if you like kill team try recon squad which has some better rules and allows you to take a hq

I like the Judge Dredd rules. Free Version available.

Give it a read through. It is very straight forward and adjustable.

Well thanks to all of you for these useful advices.

I'll have to think it over (and put my hands on my old copy of inquisitor which seems to have disappeared along with part of my witch hunter-necromunda collection, damned!)

I've read dark heresy lately and  although a RPG, it has interesting background and "career" progression.

I'll be back once all this is all set up (it may take quite a while though, having little time for the beloved hobby)

From what I remember of Dark Heresy the combat rules are made with table top in mind. So if you got the rules and really want to keep it small scale skirmish it would be totally plausible. I would probably have tinkered a little with the rules, with the intent to make ordinary goons easier to take out than in the RPG though.
