Army Painter Quickshade on 15mm Flames of War?
« on: 08 September 2013, 06:02:34 PM »
Hi all,

I am looking to paint up some Waffen SS and Fallschirmjager for Flames of War. I normally paint 28mm.

I have been toying with the idea of using Quickshade, but am not sure how well it works on 15mm, especially 15mm wearing camouflage. I'm quite fussy as to how my miniatures come out, so am looking for an above passable result. I like the look of some of the 28mm results I've seen, but not sure if the same can be achieved for 15mm?

Thanks for any help on this.

Marc.

Do not dip - splash on

The ones I have seen loose a fair amount of detail unless the removal stage is done carefully.

I still use GW washes (new and old) on 15s - I'm OK with the loss of detail though.

Thank you for replying.

I'm thinking that mid tone will work best, and I should add highlights before painting on the Quickshade to achieve better results?

Andrew I will take into account that I need to be careful during the removal stage thanks.

One other thing, can anyone see a reason why I couldn't use Daler-Rowney soluble matt varnish over the figures, once the dip has dried?

Thanks again.

Are you using the expensive, smelly, "goes off in the tin", resin army painter or the newer ink version?
So much to do, so little time...

I've yet to buy a tin. Didn't know about the ink version.

Does the strong tone ink give as good results as the strong tone dip?
