I note that you are planning African militia.  I think this is a very good thing.  Empress have an excellent range of Western forces but there is a serious shortage of non-Taliban opposition.  I play Force on Force and there many scenarios where it is difficult to find the figures in 28mm.

Please make your figures compatible with Empress.

I think that there are great possibilities if you sculpt about eight figures with Soviet weapons (AKs and RPGs) and another eight with US weapons.
You can then add different heads (Soviet helmet, US Fritz helmet, baseball caps, berrets, arabic  sheemagh, bare headed etc) to make sets of African militia, African regulars, Arab militia, South American regulars, "pro-Russians" etc etc.

And of course it will be kickstarted. I quite like the slingbag on the miniature but can not see what type of weapon it is.

I suspect it's an FN P90 with the front rail removed (not that I've ever seen such a thing) - the positioning of the left hand would fit with the curved foregrip.

It does look a bit like an ST Kinetics CPW (which would be an odd choice):

I will watch this one with interest although to be frank, I'm somewhat underwhelmed by the initial sculpt.  That CIA agent has a head like a Toby Jug with Billy Bunter's school cap plonked on top. Still, early days and it's a theme that could do with some attention.

The miniature reminds me very much of the book a Body of Lies.

The fact that the sculpt leaves you guessing as to what the weapon might be doesn't really say much for its quality. Looks like a plank with an EOtech sight on top to me.

The gun is in fact a Magpul PDR. Although not technically in production yet, the near future setting has allowed us some leeway with reasonable speculation. Cutting edge technology is a big factor in the range and you'll be seeing much more of it soon!

The majority African forces have (they are already sculpted!) a variety of the usual Russian weapons  with some FALs, M16s and other weapons for variety.

All the firearms and most of the equipment have been designed digitally and faithfully reproduced to a level that is impossible to gain with traditional sculpting.

Ok, so it might be the photo or the paint job but I seriously question that claim on the basis of the evidence to date. Take a look at the conventionally sculpted weapons on the Empress and Eureka ranges. Unless you have come up with some miracle method of casting that allows a finer level of detail to be cast beyond what is currently possible, it won't make much difference anyway.

Any chance we might see the African sculpts?

No miracle casting methods - just making the most of what the casters are capable of. The Magpul PDR is a very plain weapon, others in the range will illustrate the point better. This is only the first figure, we have another 79 in the range 

The weapon design process as well as more figures will be shown over the coming days.

True, the detail on the Empress figures is highly impressive. I'd guess that the interest of quite a few of us lies in potential figures that could be used with existing collections. For me they would have to work with my Empress figures to be potential purchases, though it will be interesting to see this progress.
