My lucky day
« on: January 24, 2015, 03:45:47 PM »
A couple of day ago, I went into a creative arts and craft hobby store, to try to find some oil paint for armour weathering...I didn't find anything, as often when I go shopping in local stores (I live in middle of nowhere, I usually have to order almost everything online).

The store (located in a "big" local mall I usually go) I went into also had a small games area...With a few FFG and GW boxed games, and recently moved from one place in the mall to another one. THe games department gained a few square meters in the relocation...and Apparently, they also found some "old" products wich never found owners in the past...I don't know if this "old product" was hidden behind other boxes, or (unlikely) I simply didn't see it before...Or it was simply forgotten, kept stored in the warehouse and collection dust.

I don't know. But once it was on the store shelf, and when I noticed it, it stayed here a couple of days (I like to live in danger  lol), but today I could not resist, and went to buy it. My 2nd GW game ever bought (the first and only one before was Necromunda, in the late 90's).

Space Hulk 4th edition. New.  :D

My luck day with no doubt. And also a good proof that I live in a complete gaming desert here, I don't play solo only because I'm an antisocial weird man,  but because there is really no one else gaming here.  lol

No way!

That is a find. Keep yours eyes open for anything else they find in the store-room!

No other hidden gem on the shelves, as far as I know. This one was my good late christmas surprise. I always wanted to buy it (since it's a standalone game, easy to play), but for several reasons  I missed last 2009 and 2014 releases.

When I saw it thursday, I didn't pick it, that was not my "gaming graal" even if I would have been happy to own this game, but after a couple of days, I thought that it would be a shame to not take it, even for collection purpose, since I already collect a few board games.

And I have to admit that I had some kind of "geek relief" when I saw that it was still available when I came back in the store to finally buy it  lol

How I understand that 'geek relief'!  Cheesy Good catch.

The funny thing is that thursday, when I saw the game box, I said to myself "hmm? space hulk still available. Funny surprise. Too bad I have too much projects in progress, and not that much money" and I came back home, proud of my selfcontrol and adult way of thinking.

Well, it lasted almost 2 days.  :D

Anyway, considering the game quality, and of course its components quality, still a lucky day with no doubt   :)

edit : I took a closer look on the box label, it's noticed "18/9/2014", so it really was hidden behind other boxes, or in a warehouse for months  lol Or simply there and I never saw it !  ;D Making a few searchs, I'm happy to see that even if it was not "that" rare, I paid 89euros for it, wich is a decent price for an high end board game with figures.
