What upcoming releases are you looking forward to?
« on: 31 May 2015, 10:04:51 AM »
Are there any upcoming miniature releases you're really hyped about? If so, tell the rest of us, in case they're not on our radar already.

Here are mine:

Isorian Shard for Beyond the Gates of Antares. For the most part I'm only "sorta kinda" interested in BtGoA, but the artwork of an Isorian soldier on the Beta Edition rulebook cover looks very promising. This is the faction of humans in the Antares universe that has evolved to have an alien-like psychology and uses creepy-looking organic technology. The soldier on the rulebook cover has more than a hint of Giger about him, resembling the Engineers from the film Prometheus. To the best of my knowledge Warlord Games hasn't begun designing the miniatures yet (I was hoping Isorians would be the next faction to be previewed, but they seem to have gone for the Ghar instead), but I'm patient and hopeful. That's not to say I'll necessarily take up BtGoA as a game, but I'll at least want a small force of Isorians for general sci-fi gaming.

Burroughs-style Martian/Venusian Aeronefs from Brigade Models. I've seen no previews for these yet, but Tony of Brigade Models revealed in a TMP news discussion thread (which I can no longer find) that they're in the books for later this year. I might want two fleets of these, so I can have them fight each other or form a coalition for big battles with my Earth Aeronefs. There was also some talk of exotic Martian/Venusian buildings in a matching scale, although I can't recall if this was actually promised by Tony.

Zin for Ion Age. Ion Age is another game I'm only "sorta kinda" interested in, but the Zin (science fantasy humans with a medieval/ancient Chinese aesthetic) look very cool judging from the two figures released so far. They might not mix very well with some of my other 15mm stuff (the Ion Age figures I already own are very big and chunky for 15mm) but if worse comes to worst I'll just have it be a self-contained project with the Shia Khan and/or Planetary Militia from the same range as their adversaries. That's all I need.

Phroggs from Ral Partha Europe. I love the Oldhammer-esque retro aesthetic and am glad the Kickstarter did so well. These are going to be awesome. They'll be the start of a pseudo-Rogue Trader project for me that will use no (or very few) Citadel figures.

More figures for Joe Dever's Lone Wolf fantasy range from Minifigs, especially some more Giaks. I've asked Joe and he's told me there are more figures in the pipeline, including Giaks (although not in the next wave of figures, which will mainly be various other evil beings like Drakkar, Doom Wolves and a Helghast). I really, really hope there will eventually be enough Giak poses to let me make a warband of at least 8-10 figures with no duplicates.
