Having recently finished my SYW Prussian army, and already having done the Russians some time ago, I decided to fight everything I've got in one battle. The problem is, although my table is 15 foot long, the troops would, if put into a single contiguous line, be 66 feet long. So I decided that the 1700 troops should arrive gradually in a big meeting engagement. 1700 figures is a lot for two players to handle, but the game progressed quite well for the first nights play. I've posted a few pics on my blog for those who want a gander……

I'm hoping that a gradual entry will allow some tactical possibilities and room to manoeuvre. After the first night about half of the figures are already on the table and it doesn't seem too crowded yet.

Sounds interesting!

A hint of a link to your blog sir, would really make it easier to gander.

Certainly would like to see that much painted troops in action even if only gradually!

GORGEOUS!   And, I LOVE the idea of the small nail at the back of the stands for beads for morale markers.  Nicely done.

Thanks. Some people don't like the beads, but it saves an awful lot of looking things upon roster sheets, especially when you have a lot of units (104 units in this game, I think). The pins are just long enough to hold two beads, so we also use them to mark infantry units that have used first fire or that are 'blown' cavalry.

Excellent looking game and figures!

Makes me think that I should collect some SYW chaps and upgrade my games rooms.

Cheers,

Paul
