Styx Adventures in Frostgrave
« on: 13 December 2015, 11:15:44 PM »
So, I am taking the plunge and buying the book, there are a few players interested here as well and after watching to see the game grow tells me it will be around for a bit.

As I am pulling my shopping list together how useful is the Cultist box? I am thinking of playing Necromancer perhaps and I am also buying the first expansion.

Gave it some thought, I figure I will wait on the Cultists I seem to have enough between what I was able to dig up in my Reaper and Mordheim/Warhammer stuff and that I ordered to be more than enough to start out....so here is my Christmas gift to me!  lol

Witch/App
Apoth/Marksman
S/M Construct
Large Construct
Bear
Ice Toad and Leopard
Core Book
Thaw of the Liche
Genie and Lamp
White Gorilla
Liche and App

Based on the reading from reviews and the spell cards online, the theme and spells I will enjoy is either Witch or Necromancer....

So, did some reading played with an excel builder and a few other charts handy here and I think I have a possible Warband to line up...

Witch
Apprentice
Marksman
Treasure Hunter
Tracker
Thug
Thief
Cast Summon Construct Small or Med
Cast Summon Animal - Bear, Leopard or Toad

Spells:
Animal Companion
Brew Potion
Fog

Animate Construct
Bone Dart
Leap

Heal
invisibility

I think it may be a good mix of downtime casting spells, defensive, a touch of offence and movement to round out...

I'd suggest temporarily down grading tour treasure hunter or tracker to a thief or thug for another few thieves and thugs. Having for sure extra hands for the first game is very important. The doff on construct and animal companion is low but I've seen them fail many times and I'd rather be out 10-20 gold than be down a pair of hands.... just saying.
