15mm Rolls Royce
« on: 26 March 2016, 12:07:48 AM »

This is Battlefront's 15mm Rolls Royce armoured car, with my 3d-printed turret from Shapeways, to convert it to the 1924 version of the vehicle from their WWII Western Desert variety.

I'm not too displeased with it, and it looks fine for the tabletop, but I think it might have been worth while springing for the extra few bucks to get it printed in high-resolution FUD resin rather than WSF plastic.

Great job. I think it looks okay with the cheapy plastic.

I did a similar conversion of the Battlefront 'Roller.

Given how cool Rolls Royce armoured car was, and given that they saw use in both World Wars (as well as throughout the period in between), its odd that no one makes a model of it in 15mm.

Nice-looking model.  :)

A field modification in the Middle East was to remove the top and bevel turret plates, effectively creating an interim 'open-top' turret as would be the case with the WWII type turret.

Nice but I think you've captured the 1920 version (taller turret) rather than the 1924 model, which has a very different shape.

Yes, you're right.
