(Kickstarter) CMG 15mm Astagar Snakemen

The Critical Mass Games 15mm Astagar Snakemen miniatures kickstarter now has just 4 days left to go.  This campaign will add a whole new range of miniatures and vehicles to add to its Mercenary lineup.



The Astagar first came into being in 2010 with 5 unique sculpts in the MERC8 infantry pack and we have worked with our concept artist Rob Parkinson to re-invent the look of the Astagar to give them a more regular army feel.

Joining the development team we have been lucky enough to enlist the extremely talented Steve "Cool Hand" Tyler who has translated the infantry concepts in to superbly detailed 3d renders and the legendary John Bear Ross who has created Power Armour, Mecha, Vehicles and VTOLs, to support the campaign.

The initial campaign is looking to raise £2000 to bring the infantry miniatures, power armour and mecha to production and after which we are looking to further enhance the campaign with stretch goals unlocking more vehicles, variants and extras for backers.

I have never backed a Kickstarter, but I love the Astagar and have been so excited to see these on the horizon. I hope there is a non mecha option, because while I am a fan of JBRs work, I don't do mecha. Otherwise I am in for a Kickstarter for the first time, I think! What's not to like about sci fi snake men?

Nice to see more of these minis coming.  Still not backing after getting burned on other KS fails, but I'll sure buy some of the figs if/when they're actually available.

I'm sorry to read you are cautious about being involved in the KS i understand it myself (Robotech anyone?), but would hope the completion and delivery of our two previously funded Kickstarter's would go some way to set that unease aside, and let you enjoy the ride.

As for pledge levels, there will be a £5 entry pledge which gets you access to all the add ons, a £33 infantry commander pledge (all infantry) and a £33 Heavy infantry commander pledge (power armour and mecha).  Both the £33 pledge levels will have limited £30 early birds.  As with all our Kickstarter pledges world wide postage is free.

For those involved in the ZAS campaign you already know these will be a great deal across the campaign.

Hi all just a quick update about the starting pledge levels for the 15mm Astagar Snakemen Campaign which have now been set.

The Infantry Commander Pledge level will be £33 (£30 on the limited Early Bird).  The pledge will initially consist of 6 Infantry Squads and two support weapons, but as the campaign continues this has the potential to grow into truly great value.



The Heavy Infantry Commander Pledge level will also be £33 (£30 on the limited Early Bird).  The pledge will initially consist of 2 Viper Power Armour Squads and one Volos support mecha, but as with the infantry pledge this has the potential to grow beyond its initial offering.



If you want the best of both worlds you can as both of these pledges will be available as additional buys at £33 each, giving you the ability to mix and match or double up, the choice will be yours.

Those are very nice but I keep a limit on KS and right now I am at (or possibly just over) that limit due to Reaper Bones III, Women Adventurers with Sensible shoes, an East Indian Cookbook, and another 15mm KS.

I suspect you will fund without my $$ and I wish you outstanding success.

Please, please, please consider adding a couple of Snakemen which are either armed with melee weapons or easily convertable to fantasy snakemen.

These could be exactly what us 15mm gamers were looking for as conanesque snakemen!

Here are a few WIP images of the monstrous Astagar 'Vigilant' Class Dropship;

Without the rear cargo pod the Dropship bay can accommodate a Tracked or Grav Vehicle from the Astagar Range, or even the Attack VTOL design, this would be out biggest production kit to date if we can hit the stretch goal of 8K.  At 8K we would also unlock the Astagar Drones for Infantry Pledges and the 'Venom' Attack VTOL kit.

Today we have added the Strike Team Commander Pledge to the campaign having been contacted by a few of you requesting a more skirmish friendly pledge.  We hope the Strike Team package for £40 meets that need, bringing Infantry, Mecha and Armour into one pledge, with the addition of a Self Propelled Artillery piece as part of the 5K stretch.
