Personally, I don't think I should have to build some kind of hazmat containment device in order to 'finish' a purchased model. I'm still really of the opinion that 3d printed models are a good few years away from producing an acceptable finish, at least at an affordable cost.

Well, I'm going to use a sanding pad and clean them up and see if that works. I'll show pics when I'm done.

I also find 1:43 a bit on the large side, but as there's very little choice for 1:50(ish) civilian vehicles, so currently I'm stuck with larger (but far cheaper) ones.

I've had to give up on 1/43 because:
(a) they're too big to my eyes (subjective, and let's ignore the horrifically out-of-scale building I'm perfectly happy to use)
(b) my wife thinks they look like toys (bearable, she thinks the whole hobby is daft so what's new?)
(c) my 3 year olds think they look like toys.  This is the killer.  Whilst I have bought them off with airfix soldiers to spare my figures, a toy car is a toy car...

Whilst 3D printing tech may still not be the finished article, when someone like Tim offers to design all sorts of random things then it really opens up the possibilities.  eg anyone else up for a 1/50 Merkava IV LIC??!

I've managed to make them look less like toys and more like scenery by Matt varnishing them and then weathering them a bit.

Probably won't help with the 3 year old, but looks a bit better on the table!
