1/56 Civilian Vehicles, Mercedes FAV
« on: October 07, 2011, 04:39:06 AM »
Some progress on the 1/56 Civilian models!   I managed to get the final models rendered, and sent off. (Big thanks to Shane Smith for the 3D work!)  The models will all have removable doors, tailgates, rear seats, front seats, and more, so they can be modeled in a variety of ways.  So we went from this:

to the final 3D prints (apologies if the parts are skewed a bit, bit nothing is glued together for the pictures):

Here we have the Navy Seal Variant, and the parts to make the civilian model shown in a previous thread.  This will all be in one kit, along with some heavy weapons and equipment.

At the same time, we'll also release the smaller variant used in the militaries of a number of countries. (as requested) ;)

And that will be followed with a Civilian only 4 door model.  I think this one I will model with a scratch built UV lighting system to do some "Troll Hunting"

one more thing...

Just got this back from the artist.  looks like I can go to print this weekend with the Toyota Land Cruiser!

Now I need to try my hand at sculpting some greenstuff, so my "troll hunter" has something to hunt.

Very nice work sir! I think I'll get one of the SEAL variants and the P4 variant when it comes out.  Will you do the USMC Interim FAV version as well ? That looks like it's based on the shorter chassis. I have the Eureka Force Recon marines and it would be nice to give them some transport.

These look really good. Any idea on how they'll be priced?

I may do an armor kit for the short version.  Shouldn't be too hard.  Eureka is also doing a crew that will fit these for their lines of SEAL figures and perhaps some of their other moderns.  So next phase will be to make some country specific heavy weapons as add-on accessories for either of the models.

Pricing... Cheap :D  Well, as cheap as I can make them.  It will depend on the final materials.  For example, I could go all resin, or cast the wheels, doors, other bits in metal, or any number of combinations.  I should have better pricing info as I get feedback from the production crew.

Now if you can do the 4x4's used in District nine too (Toyota hi-lux) that would be awesome:

Brent,

Nic Robson at Eureka was kind enough to show me the example you sent for Kosta to make the crew. Even nicer in the flesh, so to speak. I'd be quite happy for an all resin version. Might I suggest, that if you are getting Kosta to make crew, get him to make some weapons too, his work is truly outstanding.

Pricing on the resin version? Availability?
