Vagabond, GREAT AAR, minis and scenery, CONGRATULATIONS!  :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*

I really do agree that clear bases is the way to go!  ;)

Now I'm getting inspired to build a western town again... OMG!!!  lol

Great AAR! You're getting a lot of use out of that farm setup!

You might be aware of this, but the Johnny Cash version of Big Iron is a cover of the classic original by Marty Robbins:

So these are the first clear plastic bases I've seen that don't scream "I'm on a clear plastic base!!!"  If you understand what I mean.
I have to agree.  This is the first time I've seen them used and had them actually peak my interest.
I'm curious where they came from, or how they were made.

The game looked great, and more importantly, it looked like it was fun!

My main issue with clear bases is simple - they're often very reflective and end up ruining the look rather than adding to it (I've only used some on water-borne tentacles because it made sense).  That being said, you can get non-glare glass etc. when you're framing pictures, so surely this would exist in some form of acrylic.

Having a non-glare acrylic clear base --- I could see the attraction there.  The other major issue is of course attaching the minis without getting chemical fogging from glue.  That's a tougher issue to handle.

Great stuff, Vagabond.
Brilliant scenarion and lovely eye candy to boot.
 :-* :-*

Good to ssee you getting so much use out of your scenery, multi-purposing ois the way to go.

As for the paper sheeting on the saloon: i did not realise that in the pictures and was going to comment on your use of multiple shades for a great effect. It certainly seems ok to me....

Vagabond, which rules have you used?

The Saloon looks very nice to me, although it seems a little small for the kind of action that usually happens in these places!  :D

Hi guys thanks for your comments, i am in northwest Scotland at the moment so no phone signal and very little internet.

Dino - the rules are 6 gun sound by 2 hour wargame, mish, mashed in with their free chain reaction ones. With a dolop of my changes.
Re the size of the saloon - it was a test piece to see what the mixture of paper texture and coffee stirrers would look like. Dictated partly by the size of the texture i had and by some memory of a film where there was a shooting in a small drinking establishment in the middle of nowhere,  can't remember the film.
I agree it's too small for a town but as yet i don't have any other buildings,  next winters project i hope. Thanks for the interest.

Mason - thanks for your thoughts on the paper texture, as you know i value your opinion. I have since finished it with a Porch and sign and made some furniture but didn't have chance to post a picture, maybe try and do that when i get home.

Harry - I had wondered about doing that with the varnish it could be a good idea.

Elbows - i didn't have a problem with fogging, superglue on the feet and blot it off on newspaper so very little there when glued down. All but one of these figures are resin, i dont know if lead would be different.

DS615 - the bases are just thickish pvc blister packaging, cut out wirh scissors. I got the idea from wolfgirl on the pulp board. Look for one of her games.  I personally prefer them to the commercial ones which i think reflect the light much more,  probably due to their thickness and newness.

Fram - i think the Mad Lord put me on to marty robbins, although i prefer J.C. but thanks.
Yes the farming stuff gets into all my games now.  It makes you think - i have figures I've never used in a game but the cabbages and goats get on every table.  lol lol

Vagabond, THANKS!  ;)

The funniest Western game I've ever had was a big multiplayer game with Argad! rules - it means everybody was moving and shooting and screaming at the same time!  ;D

I agree, they look much better than the commercial ones.
