Greetings from Western PA
« on: 03 January 2014, 10:12:08 PM »
I have recently joined this site and am very excited to see the massive amount of inspiration here.

I am a Pastor and retired School teacher who has been actively gaming for 35+ years. I started out with SPI board games and got the Miniature gaming bug about 10 years in. I am most interested in the following

Fantasy gaming (Love Ork and Dwarf armies)
Pulp (big Doc Savage Fan, Men in Black and G-men)
Wild West ( am currently planning and building the town of Tinkers Creek will post Pictures  ;))
Star Wars and Star trek (Wizards of the Coast pre-pants and Wiz Kids Ships)
Mage Knight (Possibly my all time favorite game have almost 7,000 figs)
Hero clixs and Mech Warrior (Used to own a comic shop so have to have super heros)
Epic Space marine and Warmaster (Still have some of those little buggers to paint)
Micro Armor (WW II)
Civil War (My first miniature armies and most used in teaching)
Heroscape (Awesome game)
Car wars and Ogre/GEV (Did anyone else buy the monster kick starter version? I wore out several sets of counters for both games over the years.
Full Thrust (Space ships)

There are a few others but this should serve as an introduction to myself. I love this hobby and look forward to participating in discussions here.

Welcome aboard,
I'd agree the amount of creativity on this forum is pretty inspirational stuff, and what got me into a number of new periods and projects, most recently my take on the Geo.RR Martin 'A Song of Ice and Fire' books...
Those of you out there responsible, you know your names....

Mostly though, I'm a die hard Lord of the Rings fan and most of my Fantasy collection revolves around armies from Middle Earth, though I love big battles.

My old history teacher was a wargamer, and I reckon that really helped with my history and the wargaming. He introduced me to 15mm and I have a host of unusual armies in that scale, which I find lends itself more to terrain modelling.

Nice to see a fellow Car Wars player. Back in the day my mates and I played it a lot here in the UK and I was chief counter and arena maker. I loved the game but found the sheer number of counters too tricky. God help you if you accidentally sneezed - it was like a nuclear strike! Sadly my collection and me parted a ways back.

I have dabbled with Traveller and Full Thrust back in the day, but ended up with WW1 Aerial miniatures rather than Sci-Fi ships. It was never as good as my imagination imho.

Now I've found more 'me time' I'm collecting and gaming more miniatures and enjoying making scenery so will be looking forward to seeing how Tinkers Creek develops

Welcome to LAF warlord frod.

May you have a long and merry stay with us.
I know you're too old to play with toy soldiers. So give them to me... NOW!
