Christmas Game Pikeman's Lament

A few of us at Wigan Wargames had a large (48pts a side) Pikeman's Lament ECW game. The rules handeled the larger forces well and we house ruled some minor characters which seemed to work well.

Great piece and I love the character names! 

I must rethink ECW myself.  Long time reenactor but always put off by the thought of painting all those figures.  Pikemans Lament may be my answer to that though....

Pikemans lament definitely the way forward. Really good fun rules.

I like Pikemen's Lament a lot.
Excellent photos.
Fun game.
Can be some what dicey.
But it works for both sides.
With 48 points armies, did you have more than one command a side?
I played 32 points a side, last time I played.
Two commands a side, 16 pts each, it worked well.
Also you played with a field gun.
Could you please tell me the stats you used?

We used one command per side but agreed along lines you note that for future big games 2 commands per side would be better.

The Field gun we used was the upgrade for 2pts to the Reg gun as per the  standard rules (p24).

I knew I read it in the rules, just did not read close enough.
