First Game of The Pikeman's Lament - Ottomans and Poles
« on: February 18, 2017, 03:44:38 PM »
We played our first game (well 3 games actually) at the Tring Wargames Club last night.

I was really impressed with these rules, despite losing 2 of the games, they were great fun with a lot of potential.

There is a full AAR and initial thoughts on the rules on the blog http://tringwargames.blogspot.co.uk/

Thanks for the write up of the battles.
Sounds like you like the rules.
I have Pikeman's Lament, need to play a game.

Sounds like some entertaining games. I have a Partizan Press scenario book that features scenarios involving only a small number of troops per side. I look forward to playing them with these rules.

Here is the Partizan Press page:
http://www.caliverbooks.com/Partizan%20Press/partizan_fhs.shtml
The books have 1 to 3 pages with info about each battle, lists of regiments involved for each side  (some info is conjecture, usually stated if so), and includes number of figures for each regiment as well as figure ratios. All the info is for Forlorn Hope but can easily be transcribed for other rules such as Pike and Shotte, Fog or File Leader.

Sorry, I think I should have been more  clear: I will be using  Pikeman 's Lament  for ECW battles which is what those Partizan Press  books are resources for.
