Taurox with wheels
« on: 13 January 2018, 11:52:28 AM »
I recently acquired a Taurox kit and would like to replace the tracks with a set of six wheels. I'm aware of the conversion sets available online but was wondering if anyone had converted this model without using a custom set? In other words, is there a cheaper way to do this than send to the USA / Australia for an extra piece of kit?

Thanks in advance for any advice given.

Zinge Industries in the UK does a suspension kit and has wheels that fit it as well as half-tracks

Thanks, that’s really helpful. Looks like the axles you suggest plus 6 of their tyres would fit the bill. Cheers!

Have you tried cheap toy cars. I don’t know where you are in the world, but Poundland in the uk do some wee trucks with the right sized wheels....

I used these. Not as cheap as a toy van, sure, but they do their part:

Thanks Andym for the Poundland tip - I'll have a look this week.

Thanks also, Suber, for the picture of the Taurox - very nice work indeed.

I'm a bit reticent about buying from the USA, though, because the last time I did the levy for customs and exercise here in the UK was about the same amount as the kit I had ordered  :(

I got the Taurox as a Christmas present  :)

I ordered the conversion kit from Victoria Miniatures in Australia - link

It comes in under the £15 UK customs limit, so I was't charged extra. p&p was a bit expensive, but not overly so and the stuff arrived in about 12 days - and that included New Year.

There's a lot of good stuff on that site, my biggest challenge was not buying extra things that would have taken the total over the customs limit ;D

The main reason I went with that kit was to get the suspension side of things. Wheels were easy enough, but all the other gubbins looked more difficult to find.

Yes, it’s the lack of  “gubbins” that thwarted an easy conversion here.
