Have confidence. Need wheels.
« on: 04 May 2008, 07:19:10 PM »
I would like to scratch-build some of the armored cars that appeared during WWI and RCW that aren't already being manufactured (or are the wrong scale for our games -- "current" 28mm). The biggest obstacle is the wheels. I can make bodies, fenders, guns, etc, but not wheels. Especially spoked wheels. For that matter, solid wheels. (With tires, of course.)

Is there a manufacturer here that would design and sell 28mm "scale" wheels? Or sell what they already make separately?

Thanks

Why don't you write directly to a manufacturer and ask them to make the wheel master for you?

Matchbox makes a Model T truck in 1/52 or 1/56 scale (stamped both ways) that often comes with spoked wheels.

Here's a link for one, but ignore the ebay prices. I picked up four at Walmart for less than a buck each since Christmas and clipped the tires off for other projects.

I'd try calling Old Glory up. The new Blue Moon gangster vehicles have cast metal spoked wheels.

Try here:

http://www.langleymodels.co.uk/

They always have a booth at the Intermodellbau over here in Germany and I always buy my cast single wheels from them. They do have a large variety and even very obscure designs. Unfortunately you can't see them in their online shop, so just mail them and ask for a list or something of their spare parts.

Hope you will be lucky.
