Blubber tusks and spears
« on: August 20, 2020, 06:49:07 PM »
Since it seems that I have been the only one to pick these up I figured that I will post my work.

Now I am sorely tempted to build an entire army based on them.
Hope you like.

Really fun figures and great work on the Water effect.

Now we really know how the legends of the mermaid started.

Those bases are seriously cute and very realistic looking with the sea weed. Heaven help those halflings when those walruses decide to dive under the depths. What resin did you use for the water effect?

Thanks for the comps.

Amazing clear cast.  Waves were made with uv setting resin.

Brilliant bases! I've got to start experimenting with water effects.

FWIW, another bloke was in here a couple weeks ago showing off the halfling walrus riders, but can't recall offhand who it was.

They are certainly unique and unusual figures!

Nice work! How did you make the temporary (?) mould for retaining the cast resin?

Thanks for the comps.  I had picked mine up at GSW.  If you are worried about their business practice or want to do it yourself then glue four MDF bases together, sand the sides down and make a silicone mould.  Works the same.  You will have the added bennifit of being able to make several.  That way you are not stuck casting one base at a time.

Finished the unit.  I am still tempted to do an entire army.  However I do not think my attention span will last that long.  Off to the photos.
General

Unit Leader

Standard Bearer.  Showing off my craptastic freehand skills with a walrus skull.

Musician

One of the troops showing off the fish I added to some bases.

Here is the whole unit.

There are photos of all the individuals on my blog if you are interested.  All in all nice minis.  There are three separate sculpts for the walruses including the unit leaders/general and three troop sculpts so you can get some variation in the troops.
Hope you like.

Very original.
