28mm Hussites - need ideas for progressing this project
« on: 07 February 2023, 11:56:01 AM »
I rediscovered these figures last weekend - they have been tucked away in a box for years!

Originally destined for a DBA Hussite army, I lost interest when DBA kept changing, and also found the figures in the old Kingmaker range (now 1st Corps) to be incompatible with each other.

The Jim Bowen sculpts are large, but full of character. The Ian Mountain figures, whilst very detailed, are rather flat and lifeless - although they do mix OK with Perry medievals size wise.

Can anyone suggest figures that might mix with the Jim Bowen sculpts? I was thinking maybe Front Rank, but there may be newer makes out there these days?

The idea of a Hussite army does not really grab me now, any suggestions what these chaps could be used for? Some would fit in to HYW armies, but the size/style differences make me wonder if I could come up with something else.

Your thoughts would be welcome.

If it was me I'd go for a Peasant Rebellion using Fistful of Lead.

Thanks - I hadn't thought of going 'outside' the period. Maybe a Samurai skirmish rule set might work too - they had peasants in Japan, and they used pole arms.
