15 mm wagons with solid wheels - sources?
« on: 29 April 2024, 03:00:00 PM »
I'm looking for a couple of 15 mm wagons with solid wheels - one to be a coach and another to be a treasure wagon.  A simple flatbed wagon will work if nothing better available, can build a structure on top.

I'd prefer not to use a 'war wagon' from Hussite era and I don't think Battle Valor Games will fit size wise for me.

So, other options?

Thank you.

Museum Miniatures has some options - https://www.museumminiatures.co.uk/equipment/carts-wagons.html

(carts on page 1, wagons on page 2)

Unfortunately, it seems all of MM's useful wagons already have loads in place so I'm not sure that will work.  I did look at their war wagon as a possible option for conversion but hoping to find something closer - but in pinch I can always go back to MM.

As I recall, the flat wagons at least have their loads separate and glued on, I'm pretty sure at some point I put together the sack one. You might want to check on that with Dave from MM, my memory isn't trustworthy.

Alternative Armies do pairs of wheels including three different solid wheels, five if you include the two pairs with bat and face hubs.

Would it be easier to find carts you want and replace the wheels?

There are 100 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary and those who can work from incomplete data.

Carts with solid wheels I have plenty - it is wagons with four wheels I am searching for.  I reached out to MM to see if any of the wagons come with separate loads - though they seem rather similar to wagons I acquired from another source for a different period and those all had loads as part of the base.  Might be a few weeks until I know - about to fly out of country and won't have access to all of my emails.  Will advise once I know.

But thanks for all the input - so far.

Another consideration with MM, if you're not in a hurry to order, they have a January sale (most years it starts on Boxing Day) where they give a 25% discount off orders.
Also if you wanted to mix & match pieces from a couple of different kits Dave would possibly consider giving you a quote. (but don't tell him I told you)
Gary, Glynis, and Alasdair (there are three of us, but we are too mean to have more than one login)

Went ahead and placed an order with Museum Miniatures for some wagons with solid wheels - and then added a few additional folk that were hardly needed but might add some options, mounted females and camp followers and the like plus some vignette bits like a roasting pig, etc.  Was more than planned or needed but what the heck, not going to 'break the bank' and expands the fun, only really needed two wagons but ordered six in total to go with the eight solid wheel carts already owned.  So, can have some varied scenarios - treasure wagon, coach with personages, an advance party for the king or the prince, or just plain folk going about their business.
