Looking for Soviet space capsule, any hints?
« on: January 08, 2010, 09:03:17 AM »
Yes, I know it's obscure, but...

I'm trying to find a Soviet space capsule (Soyuz, Voskhod, doesn't really matter) which would be in an appropriate for 28mm gaming. So far, the only remotely affordable option I've found is a fifty dollar garage cast resin piece with extremely intricate pieces, and I'm not sure I'm comfortable paying that kind of scratch for something I'd be using as a scenic piece/wreck rather than an honest to goodness scale model. There are, of course, wooden carved models from Asia, but they start at around 300 US, which is a might bit steep;)

Any suggestions? has anybody got access to an old toy knocking around? Maybe Corgi or Solido did something years ago that would work? Maybe the old Soviet die cast companies made one? (I can't think of the names of those various firms, but they were in white boxes with red stars, I think.)

Doesn't have to be perfect, just has to look the part.

Would appreciate any tips/leads/etc.

-Doc

There was a Monogram plastic kit in 1/48 scale of the Gemini and Mercury capsules. That would be about the right size, but they don't look at all like the Soviet capsules.   And it's currently OOP.
