[IDENTIFICATION] Is this even a dreadnought?
« on: March 25, 2025, 09:44:37 AM »
OK, so after a bout of 2nd ed 40K inspiration and a terrain build in that same vein, I was searching some 2nd ed Blood Angels on the web just now. As you do ::)

And I came across this utter monstrosity, which the owner claimed was a 2nd ed 40K dreadnought. And I'm sure it's not that at all; I've got enough of each version of dreadnought to know that this is not a 40K model.

The dozen barrels on the gun remind me of Warzone, just like some design clues on the legs. But the millimeters thick paintjob(s) and added battle damage make it difficult to identify.

I'm leaning towards a converted Warzone model myself. Anyone got a better idea of what this is?

Initially thought it looked like a conversion of the Space Crusade Dreadnought to me...
e.g. http://blackmarketminiatures.net/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Space-Crusade-Chaos-Dreadnought.jpg

But now honestly not so sure!

Apart from the digitigrade legs, I feel there's very little that matches up with the SC dread (I have loads of those too ;) )

The feet on this for instance are quite rounded and look almost sabaton-like, while the SC dreads have really blocky feet, more akin to those of ED-209. The feet were moulded into the base too btw, with the legs pegging in there.

Looks like a (possibly converted) Battletech mini to me. Can't help you beyond that, sorry, I don't know where to look on the web for Battletech info.

Actually, did Kryomek also do some walkers that looked a bit like this? I remember them being *very* heavy. Oooft, these are ancient memories, so probably not reliable at all.

It's from the Enigma Miniatures not-40K line from the mid 90's.  Called the T-Rex Dreadnought:

Yes, as usual, the LAF collective has come to the rescue (of my sanity. Or what's left of it  lol )

Many thanks Cosmotiger!  8)
