Surely such a building will be included for your Bramble Foot Gang, won't it? Was reading through your thread here after you have put it to my attention. A very interesting read, thanks for that!  :)

I'm sure it will make an appearance at some point. I have a few sketches and notes on it; I even go into how they sleep in it (a big pile called the flop).

No worries Mikai, once I've finished my advent I will return to this project so stay tuned.

So I just realised I posted the above here rather than on my actual Goblin Warband thread...doh!

Anyway, check out over there to see the painted Bazooka Team and my current Goblin Warband. Mini-wise I am kinda taking a break or rather refocusing on the BSC2025 competition where I will be building a shuittle for my Protectorate Troops (see earlier in this plog).

I'm also in the process of re-tweaking my rules; though I planned them around units I realised pretty much all my games have been with minis acting independently. Of course this fairly simple seeming change requires a lot of work...

So, I think I've finished the rules changes and have put together two 150pt warbands to try them out with, which I will hopefully be doing the coming week at some point. Anyway, behold the awesome warband of Boglit the Blessed, Lord of the Bramble Foot Gang...and his Dwarf allies...

And their foe will be Sir Bors the Bold and his warband...

Sir Bors and his followers definitely have the edge in a fight while the Bramble Foot Gang have the edge with shooting...as long as the Bazooka doesn't misfire  ;D

Well I was thinking of playing but realised I didn't really have enough natural terrain so I started thinking about what to add and decided some rocks / rocky hills would be a good bet, they are generic enough to work for sci-fi & fantasy but also offer lots of options for movement & LoS blocking.

I had a look on tinternet for some inspiration and started thinking about maybe going with something kinda modular so at least one hill that can take a rock pile or maybe a house...hmm...

Then I started thinking about my sci-fi buildings, unfortunately Micro Art have stopped making them and now I look at them they are a bit too Star Warsy so my mind wandered some more. I definitely wanted a rocky hill that'd take a sci-fi house so before I start on the rocks I need to plan some new house. A few cards models and tinternet searches later and I stumbled on these in The Works...

As you can see I removed the lid from one and flipped it; you can also see a Hex pencil pot I picked up from Hobbycraft and some bits from the Maelstroms Edge Terrain sprue 1.

I think these will work well. I initially just got the one but ended up going back for more...

My head fluff for these is they are a kit house, cheap(ish) and cheerful and can be used to make a simple homestead or a small settlement. An advantage of them being the same size and shape is they can be combined into different combos...

I'm not sure at the moment how modular I want to keep them so will think on it and sketch out some ideas. I've ordered some more terrain sprues and will be putting an order in with Oshiro for some gubbins too.

Now I know what I'm doing with the sci fi buildings I can go back to thinking about the rocks and sketch some ideas.

Great idea. I had seen those in The Works, but it never occurred to me to use them as buildings. Curious to see how well they paint up.

Now I just need to find a Works, as most of them seem to have closed or moved :-[

I'm thinking of adding some texture using watered down filler, an idea I got from this video...

Tis a shame as you can get some good quality art supplies from The Works.

Just a wee update...

I cut down one of the hexes to make it a bit better height for a single story building, it also fits in better with the height of the pencil pot so I will likely do the same with the rest at some point.

More progress, though this time it's a bit rocky...

Three of the four are done bar the home-brew modge podge and painting etc. I'll shape the one on the far left tomorrow. I think this should be enough rocks for now...maybe...

I made this one with enough flat space on top to accommodate a hex house...or it can go without.

There is always Plasticote Rust effect spray.

Thanks for the suggestion UVS but I prefer to have a bit more control of the texture than I tend to get with sprays.

In the meantime I think I might have gotten a bit carried away with rocky hills...

This should give me more than enough and I even made a small one (in pink foam) for my 8mm games of Pocket Wargame. Next up will be the modge-podge stage...

Just over a month since the last update but I finally finished the rocky hills...

I'm pretty happy with how they turned out, solid gaming pieces I'd say. I think I have enough rocks now.

The only problem is it has made me realise that some of my other terrain were done with a not-so-mat wash so tonight I'm going to be revarnishing my trees. I will do the sci-fi bits when I work on Hexville.
