I liked the Hulk and F4 movies a lot. But DareDevil is terrible, that's for sure  :?

I've had a long chat about this tonight and, after due consideration, voted Marvel.

It was all Marvel for me as a kid, other than Dandy and The Beano, possibly starting late 70s with Spiderman and Star Wars, then into the mid 80s with Transformers and X-Men.

However late 80s and early 90s, my teens, I was pulled in by the dark and interesting Batman stories and the bizarre Animal Man, Black Orchid and Swamp Thing stuff from DC.

As weird fate would have it, I've had a chance to look at that Animal Man stuff again recently, my stepdaughter's boyfriend has been reading it.  Really weird and fantastic, written by Grant Morrison.

Enough drunken rambling from me for now, my childhood was Marvel, my teens DC, so I'll vote with the inner child.  :)

Why DC Comics are rubbish:

Now, Marvel aren't totally immune to dickishness either:

But DC seem to have dedicated a sizeable portion of their output to this kind of tosh in the 60s. And they call it the Silver Age!?!

"Bat-Baby" and mummy ants were things that could only be dreamed up by writers addicted to cough syrup.

I voted Dc purely because Batman is my favourite superhero. :)  Unfortunately I never really got the comic bug as a child. I did buy some of the more obscure comics I think they were DC - one was about an american Indian duringthe civil war and another was a fantasy comic about a barbarian with an iron jaw. Anyone remeber these?

Both have been hit or miss on occasion, but generally I got the impression DC always had more "kitsch", while Marvel had more "cool".

Of course, now I mainly read stuff from Dark Horse or Vertigo, sometimes Image. 8)
