Which of the big two comic publishers do you prefer?

I always used to be a die-hard Marvel fan, and collected god-knows how many issues of their X-Men titles.  Eventually, though, I just got bored of the same old, same old storylines (not to mention the chronic over-use of Wolverine, who went from cool to boring too easily). Nowadays, I much prefer the brighter, less "gritty" offerings from DC, where not every character has to wear black leather outfits (as was the Marvel trend in the early 2000s).

What about you guys?

Not really a question of what I prefer. I could only get Marvel when I was a kid (the shops around me didn't have DC, only Marvel UK and US Marvel Imports) so that is what I grew up on. Spidey and then Frank Miller's tenure in charge of Daredevil in the early 80s were my introduction to the world of superhero comics.

Apart from one issue of Superman that I got on holiday once (which was rubbish) , the first DC thing I bought was the graphic novel version of "The Dark Knight Returns", and that was only because it was Frank Miller.

Because Marvel was all I knew, when I did see DC comics they always seemed different and strange, and I couldn't get into the characters much. Didn't know them or care about them.

I don't read superhero comics at all anymore, though. My knowledge of them kind of stops in my late teens, which would be at the end of the 80s.

My first introduction to comics was House Of Secrets. Later, I learned about Marvel heroes and was a die-hard Avengers fan (loved the original Vision). But as an adult, it's been all DC and Indy stuff. DC's Vertigo line reinvigorated me with comics. Intelligent stories that became quick favorites of mine. How can you not find Grant Morrison to be bizarre after reading his run on Doom Patrol?  :D

It's always been Marvel for me. Read some Batman and Flash as a kid, but was hooked on Spiderman and Daredevil

I would have to go with Marvel, grew up on the Uncanny X-men, Daredevil (Frank Millers art), Ironman and a few others. Never was a big fan of DC stuff, don't know why, although I still love anything by Jack Kirby!

Now a days, there seems to be to many Ind's out there and my wife would kill me if I started collecting again! I barely get by with my Lead addiction now!

In Spain we've been lucky as we've always had access to both DC and Marvel comics... I'm no longer into superheroes today, but I always preferred Marvel to DC comics. However, Batman has always been a favourite for me. BAtman, Spiderman and Daredevil, in fact... No super-super-humans for me...

I think the roots of pulp gaming where there since the beggining

Marvel, though I don't read many superhero-comics. In my childhood in the 70ies I read the occasionally Ehapa/DC-comic, but when I got my first Condor/Marvel comic it was an earthquake, the characters where so much better (though DC had the better quality paper in Germany at that time). I never liked Superman, Batman was my favourite DC-Hero and still is, but all in all Marvel was better. Then the Movies - I always found the superman movies worser than bad, and apart from the first two the batman movies weren't better (the animated series is another case - they're great). On the other hand, Spiderman 1+2 and X1+2 are amongst the best action movies of the last decade (OK, Hulk wasn't htat good, F4 was awful and DD one of the worst films ever)..

you, my friend, need to watch Elektra... now THAT'S a terrible film - makes DD look like an Oscar nominee by comparison!

I concur  :? Which makes me wonder sometimes what kind of thoughts movie directors  have when they *try* to put something to the screen.

Me I am a long time fan of Wonderwoman, the comic, not Linda's movie series
