Metal Mutant in 15mm - need you advice.

I am planning to start sculpting monsters from my favorite game of Dos era. Metal Mutant. For thouse who havent played this game here are some screens and videos:















This is very interesting game about shape changing robot on alien planet. There are 3 forms of robot: humanoid, dinosaur and tank. On each screen you need to find out wich form is better to kill monsters, solve puzzle, find way out. For 1991 this game had very good creature, robot and background design. I remember when I was in school I spend hours making creatures from this game.

As you can read from this article - company are bancrupt now. So do you think it will be a copyright issue if I made some creatures with minor design alterations and with different names?
I mean many manufacturers make Predators, Aliens and Terminators with small design alterations.
