AT-43 Soldaty Repaints
« on: December 21, 2010, 07:26:48 PM »

Hey,

After repainting the AT-43 I got from Fantasy Flight Games a friend approached me if I was interested in his Red Blok Soldaty. I screamed "YES!" and bought them. Got them last week and after an hour or two they are finished. Easy stuff and the end result is much better looking for gaming IMO. Here's the recipe:

*Dip! (Army Painter black dip, applied by brush)
*Highlight the skin with Foundry Flesh C
*Paint the eyes
*Guns en grenades drybrushed with P3 Greatcoat Grey and P3 Trollblood Highlight. Finally I applied a black wash with artist's ink to lessen the drybrush effect and get the colors closer to each other.
*Painted the wood with VGC Beasty Brown...then painted the woodgrain with Foundry Canvas A. Finally a thin brown wash with artist's ink.
*Painted the gun lenses with light blue. Then did a lot of glazes with P3 Blue Ink to get the shading right and finally did the lens glare with white.
*Painted the top of the base green and based them.

Done! Not a lot of work...nice to do in an afternoon. Here's a picture of the stuff as you get it prepainted to get an idea of the effect:

A buddy of mine and me will be using them soon in "Fast and Dirty". Can't wait to see them in action 8)

Lovely stuff! I'm a big fan of AT-43 myself, just never got round to getting some of the models  ::).

Hope you have fun in your game, keep up the good work.

Very nice! Did you clean up mold lines and the like or were there none?

There are some mold lines on them, but too much work to take them off and it would also take off the paint. And as they're purely for gaming, I don't care too much :)

great fast and dirty repaints. I am just looking to get some other projects out of the way to get to mine. I got a whole bunch last year in the Warstore sell off and just happened to get a couple more bioxes yesterday at my FLGS at 60% off. Got a cool Oni unit of zombies.

Get 'em while you can, the ONI and COGs boxes seem to be in very short supply.
