Jousting Tornament
« on: March 14, 2011, 04:04:56 PM »
I just wanted to share with everyone some photos of Chargers, knights, personalities, and scenery I painted for a jousting tournament game my father created for Historicon 2010.

I love getting tips for improvement, tricks, suggestions, etc.

The four towers of the keep are wooden, craft store bird houses, and the walls were built with a set of Styrofoam bricks from the same craft store, that happened to be the same size as the "bricks" on the towers.

Now some shots of the game in action!

My mother is a seamstress and she made Tudor Flat Caps for all the GMs:

That looks like lots of fun! I'm actually in the middle of some jousting rules of my own, and seeing these pictures is great inspiration. I'd been getting bogged down in the detail and interest was starting to wane...

Do you mind me asking if there were any aspects which participants particularly enjoyed, or ones that you felt didn't really work?

ps - love the hats, and is that a tiny armour stand/rack outside the green and white tent?

Not at all!  I think running a true tourney where there were brackets and winners moved up the brackets toward the final round, was a bit tricky for a convention game, because there was down time for people as they waited to engage in their match.  But our participants were very good sports about it, and they seemed to enjoy watching the other matches take place.

Yes, it is a piece I ordered from Mega Minis.

Mega Minis! Of course, I knew I'd seen it somewhere before *slaps forehead*
It's good to hear that jousting is a gripping enough scenario to keep non-active players engaged.
Thanks  :)
