It was a real shame that the Victrix Carthaginians only come with the Roman shields. You can always swap them for Hoplons or mix and match them up.

I believe the Victrix Carthaginian box contains a mixture of oval scutum and hoplons. I think it is a mistake to call the oval scutum "Roman".  I am under the impression by the 2nd Punic Wars some variations of the oval shield  (Gallic/Spanish/Italian - thureos/scutum) was the most common used in the western Mediterranean.

The curved Roman version is very distinctive and not the same as the Gallic / Spanish / Italian / Greek versions.
