Old Glory "Pain in the Neck" set
« on: 09 November 2012, 12:51:27 PM »
Hi,

I was wondering if anyone had used the Old Glory figures and rules from their horror range? I am thinking of ordering a set just to paint up, this may lead to making some new terrain and the usual buying of more figures. What would you chaps recommend? My son is 10 and plays the occasional game himself when I can drag him away from the 360, would the rules be simple enough for him to understand?

Thanks in advance, the work produced on here is outstanding!

They are a cut down version of the Goalsystem rules IIRC.

There's a couple duds in here I think but some gems to counterbalance.
I've not heard of a big movement around the included rules in those box sets - I have them all but have never played it. It seems most of the most vocal Horror players are on to Empire of the Dead, Chaos in Carpathia or even Witchfinder.

"One of My Men Became Restless" focuses on 15mm Horse & Musket periods and 25mm Horse & Musket, Fantasy, Horror and Victorian everything! Occasionally there'll be stuff of related interest but it's mostly a painters blog.  See it all here: http://flashman14.blogspot.com/

Thanks Flashman,

I will order these figures and probably make up a simple set of rules...Empire of the dead seems too complicated and expensive to play at home at the moment.

Empire of the dead is actually very simple.
We have a half dozen players at the school club now, they picked up the rules in about half an hour. There is a PDF starter scenario you can download to see roughly how the rules work.
Gary, Glynis, and Alasdair (there are three of us, but we are too mean to have more than one login)

You can get the rules for free from Old Glory in PDF, Chaos in Carpathia is a good, as well as simple set of rules.
Zombies you can outrun - the mistakes of your fellow Heroes you cannot.

Thanks for the information...I will download the rules and give them a go. Empire of the Dead is also looking like a possibility now! Off to Band Q to find some foam to make some buildings...this escalated quickly. :o

Thanks Cultist, the link to the rules were very helpful. I will shop around a little or even write my own...the figures still seem worth the asking price from Old Glory.

What size are they? I have some other Blue Moon figures that tower over most 28mm ranges, so I'm wondering if that goes for this set as well?

Not too bad size wise, if anything maybe slightly shorter (& slimmer) than some more modern ranges. The thing that put me off is is the over large integrated base (& inconstancy in the sculpting).
