need a crown

not dental work, but I need a crown for a 28mm figure... have tried several different attempts at sculpting/making one and it's not really working out for me... 

ideally, I want a paper crown type of crown (spiky ring), rather than crown jewels type (fancy hat with fur and velvet)...

I'm hoping someone can suggest a clix figure that has one that I can buy cheap and butcher... but any other cheap/practical suggestions will be welcome

I'm wondering if a small washer wouldn't work? There's a particular type of thing like a washer (sorry, I'm no engineer!) that collapses as you tighten it to let's say a bolt.

If you were to work with styrene, you could file down the edges of a short tube with a triangular file.

Are you sculpting it on a miniature or do you want it loose?

This seems like a pretty good variation on the styrene strip suggestion.

If you try out the sculpting again bud, just roll out a very thin sausage of GS, then wrap it in a ring, once around the top of the models head. Make sure your sculpting tool is well greased/oiled or I use washing up liquid, then flatten the ring into a band. After that its just a case of taking nick out of the top of the band all the way round, maybe running a line or two around it. Viola!

Probably not very helpful, but if the model you wish to crown has a large enough head, the ironfist part - a sort of steel trap with jaws held in one hand - from the GW plastic ogres could be made into a crown.

job done, cheers all... the tube job is fiddlier than you'd think though...

I ould suggest making the crown crenelations before cutting off the tube. That is, shape the end of the tube, then cut it off.
