Fantasy Human Infantry (complete 7/21)
« on: 18 July 2013, 06:35:07 PM »
I picked up a box of Templar infantry from Fireforge games to be used in a fantasy setting.  Essentially, the Northern Crusades run into barbarians and demons.  Not too much in the way of background yet.  The first batch of figures I completed are these crossbowmen.  I am using LotR SBG rules and I'm sticking with the 1/3 rule for bow armed troops.  The Templar box contains 24 figures.  I have built 8 crossbowmen, 7 spearmen, 7 with hand weapons, 1 standard bearer, and 1 captain.

Ducat and LeadAsbesto graciously provided the viking bits from Gripping Beast to provide more variety.  There are some close-ups on my blog.

Spearmen and the standard bearer should be finished in the next day or so.

Nice work, sir. I'm looking forward to seeing more of them. Will you be painting their enemies as well?

They look pretty damn good. Going to have to start following your blog

They look very nice. I like the addition of the Gripping beast heads on a few of the guys. Definitely gives a bit of the "character" that you look for in fantasy forces.

Thanks everyone.

Yes, that's my plan. Probably going to start with some demons.  I've already painted up some Bloodletters that I had lying around, but I have some plans for more unique looking demons.

I completed the remaining figures from the box.  Close-ups on my blog as well as a shot of the game I had last night with my son:

Really nice.

I like the way you have done the pale colour scheme - the figures look strong, not washed out, which could happen with white and pale blue.

Cracking stuff. Really impressed with those. The paint scheme and the bases really "gel" superbly too.

The Lads look WONDERFUL in their Group Portrait. VERY WELL DONE!
I'd NEVER join a club that would have me as a member.  G.Marx
