Sorry to all fans of one of the two best North American 70's detective shows (the other being Columbo). Sorry also to western fans of his earlier show, Maverick.

Detective shows were huge in the 70's, on both sides of the pond. It took something really special to make it to the top of that heap and James had that something.

When I took my cooking apprenticeship on the Island of Sylt in Germany in 1978,every Weds., nite at 10.30 as I was walking home after my shift,I could hear for blocks as every T.V.,was tuned to Rockford Files,I would run to my Oma's house and she would be waiting ,ja hurry Rocky is on.I will never forget that catchy tune thanx for the memory,and ny condolences to a fine actor and race car driver.

Sad to hear that. Will for ever be Jim Rockford for me as well.
