Gaming The Russo Turkish War 1876-1878 in 28mm
« on: 03 May 2015, 09:31:21 AM »
When I was at Legionary 2015, this weekend  several gamers spoke to me about how best to game The RTW in 28mm and asked if there were any dedicated ranges, this surprised me so I thought I had better remind folks of the excellent range of figures produced by Outpost Wargames Service as well as the figures produced by Askari Miniatures.

Hey Shipka,

Good call on Outpost, their 28mm RTW figures are great I have quite a few I use in skirmish games.

I also have some of the Askari colonial Russians too but am not sold on them, the ones I have feature big hands and some look 'flat/squashed'.

Cheers!

Shipka, whose figures do you use for regular Russian cavalry?

They seem to be missing from the Outpost range, unless you know better? ;)

I dont if I am honest as there was very few cavalry engsgements, however I have a few units made up from ACW figs just in case, as for hussars, Austrian legion cav from any Maximìllion range snip off head and replace with an ACW kepi head

Thanks Shipka. I thought that may be the case.

I guess I was looking at the theoretical orders of battle rather than the oob for battles (if you see what I mean??)

I may look at the Perrys range. Their plastics may be a good place to start, as long as they fit in with the Outpost range.
