Some Later Day Romans - And here's another lot of cavalry
« on: April 25, 2016, 09:34:02 AM »
Other than painting up Celts I've also been painting Late Romans because the Saxon Shore has been looking decidedly shakey lately and it may need some redoubtable defenders. Figures from Footsore and Crusader with shield transfers from Little Big Men Studios.

More pics on my blog at: http://this28mmlife.blogspot.com.au/2016/04/one-fine-day-on-saxon-shore.html

Below is a link to my blog. It's the place where I write uninteresting things about little toy soldiers. I do this because I refuse to grow up and behave like an adult.

Well painted.
Romans kind of grow on you.
The more you paint, the more you want to paint. ;)

I finished some Sub-Roman British cavalry. Most of the riders are from Eureka with heads from Gripping beast plastics. The two on the left are Arthur and his trusty standard bearer from Footsore.

The GB helmets, even if clearly post-Roman, are a nice touch. Also like the striped spearshafts, very neatly done. :)
Looking forward to more.

whats your method for getting clean straight lines?? Love the minis! And I second that the GB saxon heads were a good use!

Very effective conversions made all the more better with your painting.

And my Late Roman project keeps on, keeping on in between Anglo-Saxons, Normans and a bit of sculpting.

Here are some archers by Crusader. Quite nice figures and pretty easy to paint. My only gripe is that they come in packs of 8 where I would have preferred 9. I have no idea of which legion is which. I'm just painting them as I want to paint them.

Some more cavalry. This time it's Roman and the figures are, once again, from Footsore.
