The crystals are just cut from foam and mounted on CDs. A little youtube search will reveal loads of tutes. The one I've liked most of late was this guy who's making them out of hot glue sticks:

Necromunda, Goliath vs Cawdor, played 'The Marauders' Scenario, Goliath defending.

Cawdor kept up a steady rate of fire on the big lads and put a Bruiser and a Bully OOA, but failed to achieve their objective of taking out the Leader and Champs. Pure bad luck on Cawdors end, multiple missed shots and lots of failures to wound with the templates. Not a single successful Blaze in the game.

Goliaths lucked into getting max reinforcements after the first round, thus fielding a full roster almost immediately. Steady forward pressure and good armour saves eventually brought a number of goons into melee range, which spelled the end for the trash boys.

Highlight: Shortly fter a crossbow Firebrand flattened two Goliaths with a frag grenade, a cheeky Blunderpole Brethren peaked around the corner and shredded their asses on the ground. 2 OOA.

We tried out Test of Honor Samurai tonight. Eight player free-for-all, as if we weren't putting enough strain on the system! Lots of laughter! Lots of fun, so I would count it as a success.



My Ninjas cleverly waited to deploy ontable. Despite the fact that we chose correctly, and seized the objective, everyone else immediately tried to dogpile on us. We held out, and at game's end, were still holding onto the objective. Woo-ho!



A LOT of laughing and having fun -- which is a plus in learning a new game. Thanks to my buddy Mike S for running it, and the rest of the crew for being good sports!

A couple of games of Test of Honour at the FLGS on Sunday. 

We were both doing Test of Honor, Cat, separated by...oh, about 1/3 of the country!

Lots of great High Chariot Age games of DBA 2.2+ at the FLGS on Saturday.  With a wild and woolly Hittites v. Philistines at the end.  After quite a drawn out battle, Hittites take their camp back, Philistine general gets killed, Hittite general gets killed, Hittites score the final kill needed to win in a major comeback!
 
Also a really fun game of Silver Bayonet today, but umm, failed to take pictures...

My friends and I took our annual trip up north to enjoy a weekend of gaming with CapnJim. On Friday, Jim ran a modern game using XR! rules, set in his fictional breakaway Soviet republic of Balczakistan. See his report here for the full details:

We had 6 players and it was a good time. My fellow Soviet players and I were able to seize the bridge that was our objective on the very last turn of the game. XR! worked out good for modern combat, even with Jim's 5-figure infantry squads. I was worried about that, but with cover and extended range often buffing unit's "armor," the infantry was more survivable than I thought they might be. Good game.



The next morning was Ted's sprawling 28mm Napoleonic game with 12' of table width groaning under the weight of all the miniatures. Well, since most were plastic, probably not much groaning -- but the table was packed full of Napoleonic goodness. Ted used Valor & Fortitude, which was nice and simple and easy for us brand new players to it to pick up. Another great game and lots of fun.
