Fistful of Lead...'Finding Private Ryan' rematch game. A four-player game that managed to attract a bit of attention at Darwin Tabletop Gamers...a bunch of kids started asking questions and poking about, so we dragged them into the game for a few turns.

The Airborne team - led by Tom Hanks, had to find Ryan and a bunch of his wounded buddies before the Germans. There were the usual harebrained antics as players got multiple stoppages, tripped up on barbed wire, set off two booby traps (one blowing up a house), roused a wounded 'berserk' Paratrooper (that easily fended off two german attackers in close combat), fell out of windows, missed bazooka shots at point blank, three paras even managed to clump together, get hit by a single panzerfaust...and survive.

But the US team managed to find Ryan, dispatch a bunch of Germans in heroic fashion and win the game.

Good times, and a great way to see out a pretty crappy year.

We're counting our blessings down here (up here?) in the Territory at the moment in regard to COVID. It's been great to be able to socialise and get together and play a few games socially. Most people here in the NT are stuck here in the Territory for Christmas, but at least we can game occasionally.

I know a lot of you can't game at your local clubs, so please hang in there, keep painting and playing and posting. I love coming here and getting inspired by all of your most excellent pictures and posts. I'm wishing you all a safe and Happy Christmas. I know there's a lot of you in Europe & the US, where we've heard there are much bigger restrictions and problems with the pandemic. Please take care of yourselves, stay safe and sane! All the best!

Galleys and Galleons played solo with flat paper ships from Helions Spanish Armada book.

Loads of fun and cheap too, happy days!.
Enough of this talking, let's get on.

If I remember correctly the basket contained strawberries.  All I added was a door.

Much to the wife's disgust, I've been playing with myself in the dining room again... It's been well over 20 years since I last played any 18th Century battles, so I needed to have a refresher of the rules.  I decided upon Mollwitz, as with a bit of squeezing, I can just about fit it onto my dining room table! :)

A couple of pictures from my current War of the Pacific 1879 game.

Figures 10mm from Pendraken

Bolivian forces desperately defending nitrate mining facilities and one of the arrival of the relief column of Bolivians and Peruvians.

A game of 2nd edition 40K....Eldar and Dark Angels getting fairly consumed by a Tyranid swarm.

And a game of Battlegroup: Kursk, where my Soviets were crushed by Stukas and artillery.
