Regarding the blood, I did consider it but haven't made the commitment. Once it's painted on, it would be hard to take off if I think it's cheesy :)

What I have been thinking of doing is using thin acetate with blood on it, cut to hex size so the edges aren't pronounced. Each hit can produce a blood patch, which would track crowd pleasure. Still kicking it around.
a mixture of quick parts, sarcastic humour, reserve, and caprice.

Looks very good. Is it a GW-Game or something made by your own??? Remembers me a little bit to the movie "Rollerball".

I think that would work really well... and ticks all the boxes. Good idea.

It's a gw game that came free with white dwarf. Funnily enough it seems to be a sort of precursor to gorechosen.

Issue 229 , It turns up on ebay fairly regularly.

Would you believe it has a wikipedia page!

Thanks for providing that info!

If anyone is trying to track down WD #229, make sure the fold-out map is included if you want the character stats and individual ability rules. The first one I picked up was missing the map, which also meant I was missing the stats :)

Acetate sounds like a great idea. I agree blood on it would look cheesy.

The arena is a combination of cast plaster, cast resin, laser cut acrylic and card, gatorfoam, and foamcore.

When I first saw this in the background of your LPL11 entry, I seriously thought you'd used actual marble tiles 1.5" or 2" across for the base. Are the "marble" tiles and wall panels just paint? They look great!

Thanks- they're painted. About half of the casts were tan and the rest were light gray. First they were given a light primer coat, then I gave them a thin coat of white paint, mixed in a bit of dark purple or gray and smeared it around to get the cloudy look. The veins were done with a combination of watercolor pencil and a very thin brush. There was a third layer comprised of paint and clear Future floor wax to carry off the translucency. It actually went pretty quick, less than an hour total if I recall. I did some theatrical scene painting back in the day that was illusionary marble, that helped with this project I think. The acrylic was drying very fast!
