Most manufacturers make that particular mistake when it comes to late C17th/early C18th French grenadiers (though to give credit where credit is due Nick Wragg from Ebor did release new French grenadiers without buttonhole lace after I had pointed this issue to him). Right, pedant time is over and I'll get off my soapbox now.

Actually, carving off the lace off the unpainted figures would be a tedious job already given how hard the metal Front Rank use is (pure pewter, is it not ?), so I can sympathise with your being even more reluctant to practice this kind of surgery on painted figures.

I left mine on.  I thought about carving it off but decided it wasn't worth the effort.  I think at one point I sent a suggestion to Front Rank to make some grenadiers without lace, but I don't know whether he ever did.

Have Front Rank released any new WSS figures in the last couple of years.  I'm not sure why but I stopped receiving announcements of new releases from them and didn't realize that until just now.

How soon do you think they will get their baptism of dice?

I shall probably wait until I have 6-8 Infantry, 2 cavalry and 2 artillery units a side before the dice of war are called upon...
I would say I am almost  a third of the way there...

All the best. Aly

There has been nothing new on the WSS front for a while... I think they are concentrating on the Napoleonic Wars at the moment...

the Danes certainly add a splash of colour into the mix don't they.

Very very nice indeed.

Those are very fine and also brought back fond memories of my own long gone WSS project with Phil.

Beautifully done. Front Rank figures have a lot of qualities to recommend them. I can live with some exaggeration, but the muskets are a lot ittle over the top. I wonder if the size could be toned down with a paint effect, perhaps painting the gun metal very dark with a sliver of highlight along the top of the barrel.
