Iyanden from the Bucket List - and about time too.
« on: August 24, 2017, 05:01:24 PM »
Many years ago I'd decided that 40K Eldar were a nice army to have and a fun army to paint, and my favourite flavour for background, army selection and colour was Iyanden, quite the hat trick. I'd bought odds and ends, but not a single Wraithguard - they were just too expensive as single metal models or metal sets; and when the plastics came out they were still too expensive - and still are. They are also the main flavour of the army, or probably were; but I'm beyond caring much about obsolescence, base sizes etc.

However I finally realised I'm not getting any younger, have too many models, and am reaching storage saturation - no, I'm way past that last one. I've spent around 15 years mulling over this and never doing much about it beyond buying a trio of wraithlords some months ago. This ridiculous little force is probably the one I've always wanted most, and never got around to buying. I'm guessing I'm not the only one here with such an itch.

I finally did something about it though  :D

The front two ranks are metals; the rear ones are the newer and much larger plastics - roll over Primaris Space Marines, these lads are much bigger than the older models.

Lets see if I can get them painted in a shorter time than I waited!

I applaud your bucket list, and look fwd to the results. I always liked the army-of-the dead approach of Iyanden best, but couldn't get past the yellow  Doing epic Iyanden in cream and navy now... close enough eh? ;D

Lovely.  Some of my favourite Eldar models - and one of the few in which I'm glad for the plastics (despite hating assembling them...a lot of terrible gate locations, etc.).  I would like to eventually have enough Wraithguard to run that list.  I had a bunch of the metals and I'm glad I decided to try the plastics out.  They share an almost identical aesthetic.  Also, shockingly simple to paint up well and easy.

I have three Eldar dreadnoughts (er...Wraithlords) standing by and one squad of five Wraithguard.  I think another squad or two is in order!  Now, paint them bad boys!

oh, that's more than plenty models to paint! At least by my own standards, that is. What's the colour scheme going to be like, i have no clue about different Eldar factions really. Any progress so far?
