The Sturmis are not 100% accurate but they'll do.

Reindeer teams are artillery tows, the S-65 tractor is a recovery vehicle.

Awesome! Do post more progress pics asap!

Do you need skiers? I have five of the Warlord Games kind if they are any use to you?

@UVS:  He is shouting, I think, it's not a great cast but it's the only head I'd got that was vaguely right!

@pocoloco: I've got some thanks, and some Warlord Continuation war guys too, but they are tiny!  They look to be 25mm not 28mm and don't scale well with the rest of my Baker Co guys.  ( I bought them from e-bay not Kickstarter!)

Had a bit of a disaster yesterday, my undercoat can decided to spatter and everything looked like it had been flocked!  The AA gun got the worst of it.  After a pickle in Isopropyl alcohol I'm back to square 1 which is annoying as it's taken the greenstuff off them :(

Need to re-apply the details (pockets and jacket tails mostly).

In addition to this lot I've got 4 ruined/burned houses now, they are getting a simple black airbrushing directly on the brown MDF then a good snowing.

Tempted to build another one...  they are pretty easy to build, I just engrave a large flat panel of MDF with a wood grain effect and half cut the planks then just cut/snap the unrequired bits off and assemble into a box!

I think the skiers are bit bigger than the summer uniform Finnish, at least when I last checked mine. If you want to bolster your forces, send me your address and I can send the skiers to you... just make us Finns proud and do some beautiful "mottis of your opposition ;)

Continuation War Finns, the proper, manly, way.

Take a box of PSC plastic Russians. Warlord will do at a pinch but you will end up with less useable figures.

Beg, borrow or steal some of the old Wargames Factory Germans for head transplants. Other useful items of kit can be found in various Voldemort plastic boxes.

Scribe the front of the PSC Russians tunic, to give the appearance of a conventional full length tunic. You can get a pretty good approximation of the Finnish summer tunic this way.

Paint appropriately.

They won't be perfect, unless you really want to faff about carving off equipment but I'll wager they will look closer to the mark than the misshapen dwarf children that Warlord pass off as Finns and they will match other ranges better height wise. Given the Finns used the DP LMG at twice the rate that they used their own domestic weapon, you can happily use them as is.

Yes, there were about 9000 (captured) DPs - or Emmas as they were called hereabouts - in use by the Finns, almost twice as much as our own Lahti-Saloranta LMGs. Interesting tidbit is that China ordered 30000 L-S LMG of which only 1200 or so were delivered due to Japanese action.

The Warlord Continuation Finns look ok from distance... and I'm saying that while trying to sell my own unpainted ones  ;)
