Lt. I love your work - but honestly? I'm not too sure on the oil-wipe horses.
I quite like the muddy and 'impressionistic' effect, but they look to be ultra-Matt. Perhaps you had to apply a lot of matt to counteract the shine of the oil paint?

Anyway, horses are slightly glossy, whereas these horses appear to have almost a white cloudy covering - not unlike the dreaded white 'bloom' when varnishing goes horribly wrong...
I wonder whether it might be worth trying a thin coat of satin varnish to lift them a bit?
Of course, it might just be the photograph that is causing the effect, but the riders look to be alright.
