Melting down figure to make fishing lures
« on: April 01, 2009, 05:03:14 PM »
Most figure should melt at the same temperature, right?

I have decided to take up fishing as my new hobby. Got a new pole and line and I am in the process of melting down all of my figures to make fishing lures.  All in all a very relaxing hobby.

What?  Are they more expensive than figures?  I thought fishing was lead free now? You could just sit on a riverbank and read a book ???

Although I recognize what day it is, I actually do have some ancient minis which probably would look better as fishing lures! You know, the 'whatever possessed me to buy that' types!

Actually you can save yourself some time and the risk of a nasty burn by buying minis from Irregular or Old Glory. Look out for old London War room figures too. Most of the above ranges come precast as fishing weights.

I don't know whether this topic is an April's fool day joke, but really some 25 years ago I melted fishing lures and transformed them to some minis! [Then I got a nasty burn and stopped my metallurgy]

Most figure should melt at the same temperature, right?

Depending on the alloy used. The range of melting temperatures is narrow. A home kitchen can do it.
