Looking for painting tips for 1/56th scale WW2 LCVP

Howdy,
Been working on some 1/56th scale LCVPs from Corsec, and am looking for some painting tips.

The kits themselves, btw, are plain but assemble well. I've added the struts on the sides of the armor plating as well as cleats and the bollard in the rear. Magnets in the assault doors keep them closed.

But after priming them grey -- how else can I make these look more interesting?

* Is this the proper (or close enough) grey?
* Should I use a wash to make the rivet lines stand out?
* Weathering effects?
* Uniform guide for the boat crew?

Any ideas welcome!

Some suggestions that might help?

You could try the following:

-Find a lighter grey spray and 'dust' the models from directly above very lightly. This is a nice quick way to add a bit of depth to the colour.
- 'Pin wash' around all of the details and corners etc with a very diluted Windsor and Newton 'Vandyke Brown' oil paint. This will dry quickly enough but give you time to move it about a bit and blend it in where you think most suitable. If you have the patience then keeping this to just the areas where it's needed would be best, but an very light overall wash is a good compromise.
- Some very light vertical streaking using a very light gray or even Vallejo Ivory (might be best before the pin wash mentioned above) to give the impression of salt-water streaks.
- Add some ID numbers if they are appropriate for these - I think they were.
- Some very light chipping using a dark grey colour. Jut on the edges of things you know are made of metal on the real thing.
- A few orange/brwon rust streaks or rust-pooling in places where metal edges meet (keep this light though, less most definitely more).

Slightly OT, Barrage Miniatures have just released a 1/56 scale LCM Mk I after some pushing and shoving from me. To be seen in my Norwegian campaign and possibly the Western Desert and Crete.

Yes interesting what did the LCM Mk 1 carry - tanks , Uni Carriers - how many can they fit in?

As above, a pin wash around some of the details will help  With all those nice sharp edges they are also  crying out for light dry brush of pale grey.
