Codsticker's Pulp Alley thread (update March 16th)
« on: October 30, 2017, 03:53:49 AM »
This is my part of a joint project: I am building the terrain and a friend will be designing scenarios and building gangs. Our goal is to have three tables set up for three linked scenarios in time for trumpeter's Salute in this coming March. I do feel like the clock is ticking... o_o

Table #1 is a jungle themed table a polynesian island somewhere, based loosely on the short lived TV series Balls of the Brass Monkey, (or perhaps it was Tales of the Brass Balled Monkey...) anyway Murdock (my partner in Pulp crime) told me about it even though I don't remember ever seeing it. Here are a few pictures of my start; there are more on my blog as well as a little more explanation..

You appear to be off to a good start. That is wonderful work on carving the Styrofoam. Mine never looks that good.

I use Sculptamold mixed with paint. Sculptamold is a paper mache product: a form of plaster mixed with shredded fibre which gives a  rough, lumpy finish. Ideal for rough ground or giving some texture to an otherwise flat surface. Amaco (the makers of Sculptamold) also make a product called Claycrete which looks similar but I haven't tried yet. It may not be as adhesive as Sculptamold which sticks to foam quite well as it is meant to go over a wire armature.

I have pummeled the table with washes, glazes and drybrushing.

Up next, static grass, tufts and flock. More pictures on my plog.

Well, yes and no. David who is designing the scenario wants a secret door at the back of the waterfall for the characters to enter which means that they have to be able to move there. If modelled a waterfall that would impede that. We will give the scenario a run through in a couple of weeks and if he feels ok with me putting one in then I will happily do that. :D
