WIP - Othertime Inn
« on: April 17, 2009, 04:23:31 PM »
Hi! This summer, when I was preparing my final test for high school, I needed some distractions, and I prepared a 3D model on Maya (I'm Really bad whith this program!) of a really big house. Then I started building it whith various materials, but I dropped the project when i passed the exam. (92/100!!!)

Then, some weeks ago, I found some images of really cool houses 'round the web, so I gave a new life to my project. Here's what I did since now... I'll post new pics every new part I'll do! :)

This is the external view. Of course, I haven't make the exteriors, so it looks still like a plain foam sheet... I'm working on it!

As you see, there's a lot of rooms inside... Here's some...

And more...

Here's the first floor...  It tooks 2 days, but i make all the floor covered whith balsa... it looks great, and I hope that, When I paint it, it will take approximately THIS colour!

I'm waiting for your severe Judgement...   :-I :-I :-I

That is an excellent building. I could see a whole game taking place just inside of it.

I can't wait to see it finished.

I made a lot of progress since now, but I'll prefere to wait a bit more before posting anything! :)

and now actually I've temporarily dropped the project to paint a 15mm medieval german army, so maybe you've to wait a bit more...

cheers
Jack

Looking great so far. I like the floor and wonder how it will look at least when all the work is done.

Go on...

Sangennaru,

first I would like to congratulate for your brilliant degree! Ingegneria isn't it? ;)
Than I would like to see your HUGE building finished.

By the way, I'm from Milano as you are.
Do you play in any club?

Marco

PS I don't want to bother other English speaking friends with out chit-chat in Italian, so please write me off forum.

well... I've passed some exams, but I'm still on the first year of Physics.... :)

you're really from milan? that's cool! which part of the city??
no, I don't play whith any club, cause i don't have enought time to play.... nowadays i'm preparing a 15mm FoG army, but i'm more a modelist than a painter, so I don't know when (and if) i'll ever use it... :)

what about you? I don't know any club, maybe if you do should be cool to introduce me! XD

Now, these are old photos I took a month ago.. the building si slighty more done, but not enough to make another photo set.

here's the improvements!

Before making the roof, I've prepared a sort of armor of wooden sticks, cause I'm planning to leave a hole right there. This part is removable, and is fixed whith magnets.
Those tiny, powerful rare earth magnets.

then, I've finished and primered the first floor:

and the other have the complete floor covered whith balsa!

I've started making some smaller parts of the roof, as shown

and of course the chymney!

more pics soon.... well, when I'll finish my 15mm Later Medieval German Army! ;)

Looking very, very good. I'd be watching this with interest. How do you plan on doing the hole in the roof, I think I understood that you wanted to do it so that you could 'plug' the hole - was that right?

yep, more or less... as you can see in the small part of the roof I've done, I'm preparing HUNDREDS of balsa tiles for the roof... I will put them in order to cover everything, except for the central part of the hole: so you will see the ending parts of the actual sticks, and I will put a lot of rubbish on the lower floor, under the hole... :)
