New Year's Resolutions?
« on: 26 December 2017, 03:35:26 AM »
Okay,

I must admit that I have never really been much for New Year's Resolutions.
But I have been thinking a lot lately about my gaming habits and have decided
to make a few gaming resolutions for the coming year.

1) No more falling for the new shiny! That means not starting new lines based on a book I
read or movie I saw or reports on new stuff here on TMP.
2) Play more with what I already have. I have tons of figures for numerous periods and I feel
bad that I don't spend more time using them after all the time and money I have spent on them.
This next year I will.
3) Just one new line of figures. This one will be hard. I already have two or three on my mind. But,
I am going to try and stay firm.

Okay, so what are YOUR resolutions??

Pretty much as per the original post. I've settled on my range for 2018 and it's going to be about painting what I have. Probably. Most likely. Maybe.

I’ve got to repair two demo games and finish creating a third, so my resolution is effective from the Financial New Year only, and that is to spend one month at a time working on an existing project and get it ‘finished’ or ‘playable’. Said project to be chosen on the 1st of each month in accordance with established Wargames Project Legislation and Guidelines (version 6.7) or blind whim, whichever is appropriate at the time.

Note: Terms and Conditions apply, Real Life/Oh Shiny Insurance will not apply, Good Intentions may vary without prior notice.

My new year resolution is to work out how to slow down time so I can fit in all the things I want to do o_o

Failing that, paint stuff, try to play some/any games and try not to get too distracted by the shiny ;D

I don’t really do New Years Resolutions. I would like to get my 28mm SYW Russians and Byzantines to gameable sizes and maybe finish off my hoplites.

Actually get some of my &$@$# stuff painted so I can post pictures here on good conscience and can have proper games to boot.
I also vow to buy plenty more new shinies because it's not as if I'm ever going to have enough...  ::)

I really have no idea what I'm doing.

I had a pretty good year with the little men, so I resolve to continue apace!
1. Continue playing Ghost Archipelago and maybe a bit of Frostgrave.
2. Keep working on Broken Contract minis and terrain and post up some game reports. This is one that I'm buying/backing everything that becomes available because it is a cool little game with some great ideas. All in!
3. More Dracula's America, see above for why! A lot more folks already behind it, but equally deserving attention.
4. The big new project this year? I'm thinking finally do the Dungeon, and Otherworld Skirmish.

Not sure what shiny stuff will distract me, but I've got a good group of players, some games I really like, and projects I enjoy, so it will hopefully be a good hobby year!

All good so far....

For me its

1. Play more 4OK 8th edition  ;D
2. Play more Hammers Slammers in 6mm :o
3. Try Black Ops, sci-fi style of course
4. Play more Walking Dead, All Things Zombie
5. Play more anything, in fact play not plan so much and actually do more stuff, too much time in front of this thing >:(
6. Play Airfix battles, Tanks and Ogre/GEV if I can at least once this year.
7. See above and SOLO if necessary  ::) :-[

A Happy New Year to you all

I'm caught in the moral dilemma of how long the unwanted presents from (well meaning) family need to sit on the shelf before I can decently flog them off. I hate when they buy me modelling things and I ask them every year not to do it ... but they do.

This is in direct opposition to my (ongoing) resolution to clear the decks of all but that which I have a realistic expectation of ever enjoying.

Been thinking a lot in the last few days about what I want to paint in 2018
It come down to me getting bored with painting the same period for more than a month.
So, the 1st of each month I am off painting a different period.
I am going to try to finish off a number of periods starting with Retreat from Moscow 1812 in Jan.
I should be able to paint enough to have a two or four player game.
Then in Feb., it is AWI.
March, is up in the air.
At least that is the plan. :D
