Burglary - Steve Dean - Please be on the look out
« on: 03 January 2018, 05:16:30 PM »
On the night of 1st/2nd January my good friend and well known hobby painter Steve Dean had his studio broken into and many things stolen in what appears to have been a targeted burglary.

Could Lead Adventurers please keep a look out for the stolen items, on Ebay, on FB selling groups, at the bring and buy at shows etc etc. IF you have any information please let Steve know, or me and I will pass the info on.

As you can imagine Steve is finding it hard to remember everything that has gone but here is a list that he has put together ...

" Cannon EOS1200 camer with a decent macro lens added and the standard lens that came with it. It will stand out because looking through the veiw finder it looks like the lens has been badly scratched (big dark lines), but it's just were I screwed up cleaning one of the mirrors (takes great pics as you've seen)

2 sets of War Medals from my Grandads. Standard service medals plus one having the Italian medal the other having the greek medal and a 3rd royal tank reg cap badge.

28mm
REAPER - too many to list from all of their ranges. Some in blisters, some in bags
RACKHAM - again too many to list, again some in blisters and some older ones in bags. The ones in bags have the code number written in pen on the bag.
There was some of the big older trolls and the goblin set with the deep sea diver and pirate types (can't remember what it's called)
Games Workshop - Older Empire figures of all types. 40k vahallens Warhammer Quest Character boxes.
Citadel - Some really old pre-slotta Elvish Cavalry and foot/mounted chaos knight sets stand out, but again too many to list, Clerics, Wizards etc you know the type
Lots of other stuff that I'll have trouble listing, you know how it is. I'll add stuff as I remember

15mm
FOW two big box sets for vietnam , the US one has boats and infantry, the Veitcong also has boats, civilians and classic Vietcong. 2 Huey Helipcoters in 'speciall order' boxes
FOW the newer plastic infantry sets, Russian, German and British. Some resin tanks - all nations. Some LRDG stuff. Small box of Free french Inf+ a gun, the German/Partizan set with the dog handlers etc.
Essex, hundreds of them. Mainly Medievals - Polish, Hungarian, Crusades, Arabs, Ottomans. Also, Babylonians, Boars, Zulu war brits.
Khurasan - Various Sci-Fi film related figures
Again Lots of other stuff from Blue Moon, Rebel Minis that might be unusual to see over here.

A few random kits

Also stupid things like my glue gun and all my reading glasses.

and a whole bunch of Heroclix plastic pre painted figure which would fill 2 standard supermarket carrier bags."

That is really crap. If you could possibly list some of the more rare items especially the Rackham stuff then it may be easier to track down. Especially if they are being sold cheap.

It sounds like they knew what they were doing, and then maybe not. The stolen items are rather ecclectic, and to me it sounds like they knew something was to be had at your friend's house, but they had no clue as to what exactly. The camera and boxed minis are obvious, but reading glasses and a glue gun?

Sounds like a junkie got word that miniatures are valuable, but does not know his Clix from a Preslotta and just took what looked valuable and convenient.

I hope you will recover as much of your mutual possessions as possible, but to be honest, I don't give it much hope. But obviously we'll keep an eye out. :)

Yes, rotten luck.

I'm not sure the vaguest and generic nature of the item descriptions is really going to help.
But I'll keep an eye out for a used glue gun, some 'random kits', various sci fi items from Khurasan, and 'lot's of other stuff that [he'll] have trouble listing', etc.
You just don't see those kinds of things around much...
I'm sure the local scene of crime officer really appreciated the precise nature of the listing, and I'm equally sure it will result in it all flooding back in.

Doesn't make it any fairer of course.
Ho hum.
Nice...  :-[

Might it occur to you that perhaps this was written in the moment? I'm sure a more detailed and specific listing is in the works.
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

Initially any list was better than no list. I believe Steve is trying to put together a more specific list.

Yeah, sounds like it's a junkie who's probably just gonna scrap them.

Real shame, though. I hope he had insurance. A friend of mine lived in shared accommodation, had a room mate kick down the door, steal all his stuff and leave (he was being evicted anyway) and the police did literally nothing about it.

What value is there in making such a sarcastic, negative comment, other than to make yourself feel important and superior. People like you who exploit the ills of others like this in order to pump up their own ego need to seek help.

That is really awful. Check all the usual places car boot sales , money converters that sort of stuff.

It is quite hard to give a definitive list of what we have collected. I know I couldn't do it especially just after being burgled. But guess not as perfect as some folk.

Maybe he's roleplaying the character he's named after.

Shit Chris, that's a shame  :(

Good luck getting anything back but I wouldn't be optimistic.
